I love nothing more than spending an afternoon or evening watching my favorite wedding movies. It may not be my fiancé's favorite hobby, but he's usually very good at it. You might not admit it, but you can recite certain scenes from my best friend's wedding over your head. There have been some great wedding movies released in the past few years and these are some of my favorites. Meet the Parents has become one of my absolute favorites. He came out in 2000 and stars the always funny Ben Stiller. The premise is typical of many wedding films; A nervous young man is introduced to his future in-laws. What makes this film so exciting is the role of the future father-in-law, played by Robert DeNiro. The dynamic that unfolds between Stiller and DeNiro is unforgettable. Oh what a laugh!Meet the Fockers is a sequel to the above and was released in 2004. This time we have the pleasure of meeting the parents of Ben Stiller's character, Greg Focker. His parents are played by Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand, both of whom have memorable roles. They are in stark contrast to the bride's parents from the previous film. While the bride's parents are somewhat conservative and uptight, the groom's parents are New Age leftists. These two films have become my absolute favorite wedding films. Pretty funny! Corpse Bride is another very entertaining film with a wedding theme. This animated masterpiece was released in 2005 to critical acclaim. It's quirky like all Tim Burton movies and some of my favorite stars do the voice over work. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter star. The premise goes something like this: A young man has trouble with his lines during his wedding rehearsal. He strays into the forest to practice alone. Align your linesperfect, and puts the ring on the branch of a fallen tree, or so he thinks. It turns out that the fallen branch was actually the decrepit finger of the corpse bride, who has risen from the dead and claims to be his legal bride. Even your boyfriend will love it!
